Rebecca Hinton
Breathwork Facilitator
Hi! I'm Rebecca! I've been in the fitness and wellness space for over 15 years. I'm passionate about helping people find joy, connection, and physical and emotional freedom in their bodies. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with acute PTSD following a traumatic event. I found myself feeling anxious, lost and trapped in negative thought patterns. I knew that it was up to me to find ways to become whole again. As part of that process, I discovered breathwork, and it was one of the most effective and transformative things I'd ever experienced. It helped me come home to myself and start to shift my thinking. I'm on a mission to help as many people as possible tap into the innate wisdom of their bodies by harnessing the power of their own breath, and experiencing the freedom that comes with releasing emotional blocks, letting go of stored trauma, and getting un-stuck from toxic thought patterns.

My story
I grew up in central Indiana, the oldest of three children. I had a passion for dance, but my parents said I needed to go to college and "get a real job". I fell in love with Nashville as a Vanderbilt student in the mid-90s, back when Nashville felt like more of a big town than a city. I spent my senior year working at a child abuse prevention center and absolutely loved it. I left after graduation (to get a real job), but always dreamed of coming back and raising a family here. I had a brief corporate career in HR, but after I got married, I returned to working in non-profit roles focused on child abuse prevention. After my son was born, I took some time off to be home with him. Shortly after his first birthday, my dream of getting back to Nashville came true. My husband got a job here, and I started teaching dance fitness classes for fun, as a way to get out and meet people and start dancing again. I still felt like I was helping people, just in a different way than I did in my social work days. (Helping people who weren't court ordered to receive my help was a lot more rewarding!) In 2008, I founded b.fab.fitness, and it's been such a source of joy and fulfillment ever since. I love creating a safe space for people to move and have fun and find community and connection all in one place. It's been a such a gift and blessed my life in countless ways.
2020 brought a few traumatic life events (in addition to a global pandemic) which became the catalyst for a lot of deep inner work, and a journey to find healing for myself. Over the last three years, I've participated in a variety of therapeutic modalities (individual therapy, group work, EMDR, and cold exposure). I have benefited from all of them, but found breathwork to be one of the most transformative things I experienced. I knew it was something I wanted to be able to share with other people. I consider it to be a great privilege to hold space for people and support them as they process their experiences, allow themselves to feel and RELEASE things they've suppressed, and begin to unwind many of the false stories and beliefs that we all carry throughout our lives. The clarity, breakthrough, and freedom that comes from this is truly a sacred and beautiful thing.
If I've learned anything on my own journey it's that the most painful things in life have the most to teach us. We just have to be willing and open to explore all the lessons that are waiting for us. We have everything we need to live the life we desire if we learn how to tap into the innate wisdom of our bodies. If you are ready to dive in or just want to learn more, let's chat!
